Slow Food Noosa continues to educate, protect and promote the International Slow Food Movement philosophy of good, clean, fair food.
Winding up the year’s activities at the celebratory President’s Dinner set for Monday 11 December, president Erika Hackett, backed by her formidable committee, continues the work to protect the heritage and culture of good food produced in our amazing community environment.
Fund-raising at the President’s Dinner supports initiatives like:
* Educating local primary school children through the Slow Food Garden Project that has seen tens of thousands of dollars donated to schools for kitchen gardens.
* The Community Garden in Earl Street Tewantin, open not just to members, but everyone who enjoys growing, harvesting and eating good, clean food.
* A three-year program supporting dementia patients at Carramar Nursing Home through a Sensory Horticultural Garden.
* Helping local producers protect, promote and exhibit wild or cultivated products at Terra Madre international convention at Turin, Italy, home of the Slow Food movement.
If you care about eating food that is good for you, good for the grower and good for our planet, Noosa Slow Food would love to see you join in the President’s Dinner – there’s a spot waiting for you!
Thanks to the generosity of Noosa businesses who continue to care about supporting our community, you have the chance to put in a live or silent auction bid for superb donated prizes. Prizes include jewellery, golf packages, accommodation and dinners, spa and beauty packages, adventure activities and a host of smaller prizes. Bid for genuinely worthwhile Christmas gifts for you and your family.
Please show you care. Support your Slow Food president and volunteers and, most important, show you care about your local community.
