Laila is a finalist as she has overseen many of the team undertaking training including Mark and Ruby undertaking a diploma in hospitality, Chloe doing a certificate III in business administration and three chef ‘s apprentices. “I wanted to combine my experience and passion from my previous work in training and recruitment with this business,“ Laila said. “We have a mature age apprentice, a regular apprentice, a hospitality trainee and a business administration trainee who has been with us for five years. I really wanted Chloe to work on something that would help her to branch out and help give her the qualifications to make a great career for herself. “It really is fantastic to actually see where your tax dollars go. The government incentives offered to employers to create career pathways for young people is so positive. It sets them up for the future and gives them communication skills which are so incredibly valuable in the workforce. “Not only is it important for us as business owners to keep up with onmarket trends and industry regulations but its just as important that our staff keep up to date with current knowledge. The positive impact of training is immeasurable. Whether it be on the job training or a nationally recognised certification, I feel training boosts our staff ’s confidence, maintains interest in the job and keeps us ahead in a highly competitive marketplace.” “You have to look for the good in young people and take the time. So many of them are willing and keen. My trainees really are doing such a fantastic job.” Laila welcomes work experience applications at Sirocco Noosa and will continue her passion for giving individuals opportunities to create a bright future for themselves.
