Embassy XO in Sunshine Beach has again been awarded a 2 Glass Rating as part of the Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards by Gourmet Traveller.
Taking out the main award this year was Jonah’s in New South Wales, and the awards and glass ratings are decided by a panel of expert judges who explore the most exciting wines, spirits and beers in Australia’s top restaurants.
When assessing the Glass Ratings, the judges review five aspects of the wine list to determine its level, rating the list between one and three glasses.
This year the judges presented Embassy XO with 2 Glasses, with the following feedback based on content, balance, suitability, presentation and price.
“There’s a sense of energy and enthusiasm to this delightful wine list with its amazing array of vinous goodies both traditional and modernist. Listing by weight and style with colourful descriptions adds to the fun, as does the top notch offerings by the glass via Coravin.”
Embassy XO’s wine list was curated by sommelier James Alcock and owner Chris Burton, and was created with a focus on premium wines. It includes a balanced range of Australian and international wines with many organic and biodynamic wines included.
“We are thrilled to be awarded 2 Glasses again this year, and I have to thank James and my team for representing our selections so well in venue,” Chris Burton said.
“When designing the Embassy XO wine list we wanted to create a collection of stunning premium wines from around the world, and have found many from some incredible small and boutique vineyards.”
Embassy XO is joined on the list by other 2 Glass Rated Sunshine Coast restaurants Wasabi and Noosa Waterfront, as well as Sails Restaurant which boasts a 3 Glass Rating.
